Only purchase Legal Consumer Fireworks from a licensed retailer, licensed manufacturer or licensed wholesaler.
“Do not allow children to play with fireworks!” Sparklers, a firework often considered by many to be the ideal “safe” device for children; burn at very high temperatures and should not be handled by children.
Read and follow the directions on the label.
Always wear safety glasses when igniting fireworks.
Set off fireworks outdoors in a clear area, away from houses, dry leaves or grass and other flammable materials.
Keep a bucket of water or a working garden hose nearby for emergencies and for pouring on fireworks that fail to ignite or explode.
Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.
DO NOT aim or throw fireworks at another person
Never have any portion of your body directly over a firework while lighting.
Never light fireworks in a container, especially a glass or metal container.
DO NOT try to relight or handle malfunctioning fireworks. Soak them with water and throw them away responsibly.
When finished, allow used fireworks to stand for at least 20 minutes, then submerge in water, drain, place in a plastic bag and dispose outside in a covered trash can.
Keep unused fireworks in a cool, dry place.
