Celebrate Safe and Responsibly!

  • Only purchase Legal Consumer Fireworks from a licensed retailer, licensed manufacturer or licensed wholesaler.

  • “Do not allow children to play with fireworks!” Sparklers, a firework often considered by many to be the ideal “safe” device for children; burn at very high temperatures and should not be handled by children.

  • Read and follow the directions on the label.

  • Always wear safety glasses when igniting fireworks.

  • Set off fireworks outdoors in a clear area, away from houses, dry leaves or grass and other flammable materials.

  • Keep a bucket of water or a working garden hose nearby for emergencies and for pouring on fireworks that fail to ignite or explode.

  • Be sure other people are out of range before lighting fireworks.

  • DO NOT aim or throw fireworks at another person

  • Never have any portion of your body directly over a firework while lighting.

  • Never light fireworks in a container, especially a glass or metal container.

  • DO NOT try to relight or handle malfunctioning fireworks. Soak them with water and throw them away responsibly.

  • When finished, allow used fireworks to stand for at least 20 minutes, submerge in water, drain, place in a plastic bag and dispose outside in a covered trash can.

  • Keep unused fireworks in a cool, dry place.

  • Check instructions for special storage directions.
